The album the world didn’t ask for, but the one Gray Hare had to make.

In an era of oversaturated streaming platforms and endless content cycles, Gray Hare started with a refreshing dose of music. The Superfluous Seven is an intentionally "unnecessary" collection of tracks that introduces the artist's first official release after a staggering 15-year hiatus of releasing any music. Used as an excuse to drop something after their previous group disbanded.

The premise is simple: does the world need another hip-hop album? Probably not. But after a decade and a half of silence, the music simply refused to stay unwritten. This 7-track "warm-up" project is the result of five years of meticulous crafting, serving as the bridge between a former life in music and a bold second act.

The Art of the "Unneeded"

The Superfluous Seven avoids the pretension of "saving the genre." Instead, it embraces the pure, unadulterated joy of creation for creation's sake. Consisting of former Poets of Another Breed members Dj Kevlar and Interrupt, it is a document of veterans finding their voice again, (Kevlar picking up a mic for the first time) dusting off the skills that sat dormant for 15 years and Interrupt proving that the itch to rhyme never truly disappears.

"There’s a certain freedom in making something that isn't 'essential,' simply to just dust things off again. We haven't made any music in quite awhile—these seven songs are just us checking the mic to see if the lights are still on."Gray Hare
